Named for the root cause
Aristotle used aitia for the answer to "why?", the cause that explains a thing rather than describing it. Aetion comes from the same root, and so does the way we work.
Most engineering effort goes into symptoms. A slow page gets a cache, a crashing service gets a restart policy, a big cloud bill gets a reserved-instance discount. Each patch is reasonable. Together they bury the real problem under layers that someone has to maintain.
We start by asking why until the answer is a fact we can reproduce. Then we change as little as possible to remove it. Aetion opened in 2026. We're small on purpose: every project gets our full attention, and our products grow out of problems we see in that work.
